Patient Experience Week 2018

April 27, 2018

The week 23-27 April is recognised and celebrated as Patient Experience Week at Northern Health.

Patient Experience Week provides a focused time for Northern Health to celebrate accomplishments and honour the individuals who impact patient experience every day.

Patients are the centre of all we do, and all staff and services across Northern Health impact the patient experience.

Measuring Patient Experience at Northern Health

Northern Health has just received the most results from the Victorian Healthcare Experience Survey. 94% of Adult Inpatients and 84% of patients in the Adult Emergency survey rated their care as good or very good. These scores are both above the state average which is an outstanding result.

Consumer Participation

Our Consumer Network makes a difference in our service by being involved in the work of projects, committees and working groups to improve our services. We are always looking to recruit new Consumer Network members and expand this great work.

Health Literacy

Health literacy is the ability to obtain, read, understand and use healthcare information to make appropriate health decisions and follow instructions for treatment.

An important part of a positive patient experience is providing patients with the information they need in a form they can understand.
More than half of our patients do not have the level of health literacy they need to ask questions or make well informed healthcare decisions and act on them.

Patient Feedback

We understand that not all patients share the same experience, and welcome all feedback through the appropriate channels.
