For Patients and Visitors
What is the Service?
The Rehabilitation Medical clinic is led by a doctor called a Rehabilitation Physician. The physician follows-up patients who have been discharged from the rehabilitation ward within Northern Health to make sure that they are continuing to recover. Your GP may be able to refer you to this clinic but this is determined on a case by case basis.
The physician’s areas of expertise include spasticity, management of bowel and bladder and pain issues. Some advice can also be provided on managing thinking and behavioural changes following acquired brain injury.
What can I expect from the service?
You will be invited to attend a clinic at either Bundoora or Broadmeadows. The physician will talk to you about your health issue and recovery and may undertake a physical examination. He or she will then develop a plan with you to improve things that are important to you such as your mobility, self-care, and participation in leisure activities, work or driving.
The Service is held at Bundoora and Broadmeadows campuses on Thursday afternoons, alternating between campuses. Broadmeadows Clinic is staffed by a Rehabilitation Physician and Registrar. Bundoora clinic is staffed by a Rehabilitation Physician only.
What do I bring/need for my appointment?
